Moomin Cookies

So this adorable Moomin cookie cutter has been sitting unused on my desk since my visit to Covent Garden in June, waiting for the right cookie recipe to come along.

Finally, thanks to Saveur and this delicious recipe for Polvorones (Mexican Pecan Shortbread Cookies), and with a few adaptations of the weights and measurements to the infinitely more sensible Metric system (With Delia’s help, of course), my little Moomintroll delights were born!

It took a little bit of fiddling around with oven temperatures (from 350F to 180c/160c fan oven) and cooking times needed to be upped (these cookies were a lot bigger than the suggested size, so they took 20 minutes rather that 14) , but they turned out pretty sweetly for a first attempt

  1. Where did you buy the Moomin cookie cutter?

  2. Ooh! Your biscuits turned out much nicer than my first attempt: http://catastrophicfindings.wordpress.com/2012/06/04/lemon-moomin-biscuits/ Haha! I couldn’t even get the batter off of the cutter! I will have to try your recipe one day!
